India’s Telecom Regulatory Authority (Trai) has delivered five Multi-System Operators (MSOs) from West Bengal below the crosshair in its modern-day pass to ensure proper customer support and stringent compliance with the brand-new regulatory framework. Trai has been sending out notices to the DTH operators, cable TV offerings vendors, and now MSOs for non-compliance with the TV and broadcasting industry’s new regulations. After receiving the subscribers’ lawsuits about the lack of a right carrier, the regulator has issued notices to those agencies. In many locations, subscribers have been facing issues with their TV connection, like missing channels, and disruption in connection. Trai sof seeks to repair this by ensuring strict compliance with the new rules of the enterprise.
Five MSOs in West Bengal Slapped With Directions from Trai
The five MSOs directed via Trai to stick to the guidelines consist of Multi Reach Media, Digicablecomm Services, GTPL Kolkata Cable & Broadband Pariseva, Barasat Cable TV Network, and Bhorer Alo Cable & Broadband to comply with the new regulatory framework. The regulator has also asked those MSOs to document compliance within 5 days. The regulator stated that once it acquired a compliance file from the representatives of those MSOs in an assembly inside the regional office of Trai in Kolkata, it determined many inconsistencies and problems within the stated reports and the operators’ websites.
Trai even talked about the information about the troubles, which is determined. For instance, in Multi Reach Media, the operator isn’t presenting a ‘subscriber corner’ on its website. Trai also mentioned the operator’s call centers. Trai stated that some that’s protected no client care programming carrier and missing STB schemes on the internet site te. The MSO was also observed forcefully supplying subscribers with a bouquet of free-to-air (FTA) channels without a preference for opting out.
Major Issues: No Support for IVRS, Missing Subscriber Corner on Website
Trai determined similar problems with Digicablecomm Services as the MSO was determined not to impart a subscriber corner on its website. The provider’s decision center also did not assist IVRS. The purchaser care programming was also lacking, and subscribers could no longer choose any channel of their choice in BST.
GTPL Kolkata Cable & Broadband Pariseva also lacked a subscriber nook facility on their internet site, and their call center did not assist IVRS. Additionally, the operator hadn’t published STB schemes on its website. In Barasat Cable TV Network, the Trai observed issues with toll-unfastened patron care, a wide variety going unanswered, no subscriber nook facility, and no IVRS aid in the name center. Bhorer Alo Cable & Broadband was determined to have the same problems: missing STB schemes on the internet site, having no subscriber nook, and lacking IVRS aid in the name center.
